Dear all,
I have just published two articles on the Mad in America website that I shall briefly summarise here. In the first article,1 I document that antidepressants don’t have any clinically relevant effect on depression. Not even when biased psychiatrists on industry payroll decide what the effect is. And when the patients are asked what they think, the effect is so close to zero that we may conclude there is none. This will shock most people, but it is correct. It is what the placebo-controlled randomised trials have taught us.
I called my article ”A story of bad science: How defenders of antidepressant efficacy make their case.” The psychiatric leaders say the drugs are highly effective, which is blatantly false. I describe the main tricks they use: fraud, bias, lies, wilful ignorance, illegitimate statistics, and wishful thinking.
The second article is titled, “Antidepressants can change peaceful citizens into killers.”2 It is often debated if this is correct but it surely is. People may act in a psychotic, out-of-character way they cannot understand when they have come off the offending drug. I know three people who have killed or became close to kill under the influence of an antidepressant and have described their stories.
Already in 1886, Scottish novelist Robert Louis Stevenson predicted that it could be possible to change someone’s personality totally with a chemical:
Later, I shall inform you about additional articles to be published soon on the Mad in America website. They have these working titles:
- Antidepressants are major drivers of suicides
- The BMJ refused to publish criticisms of its highly misleading suicide prevention articles
The extent to which not only psychiatric journals but even major medical journals like the BMJ and The Lancet propagate a false narrative about how beneficial these drugs are and that there is no reason to worry about that they increase violence against self and others is extraordinary.
It is not only very sad, but also lethal, that the public is being disinformed so systematically, and it is in direct contrast with the evidence we have from the placebo-controlled randomised trials. I shall continue pointing out how misleading journal articles, guidelines and psychiatric textbooks are. The whole area of psychiatry is deeply corrupt.
You can see all my publications on my website, https://www.scientificfreedom.dk/. See also our interviews and soon also documentary films on our Broken Medical Science website: https://brokenmedics.com/.
I have explained in a few minutes why you should not take an antidepressant (episode 08); that the biggest study of antidepressants ever, the STAR*D study, financed by the US National Institute of Mental Health at a cost of $35 million, was a total fraud and that the institute and the psychiatrists don’t care but continue to cite it as if it were true (episode 11); and why forced treatment with antipsychotics must be stopped (episode 12).
Psychology professor John Read explains why electroshock will likely become abandoned (episode 10); psychiatry professor Joanna Moncrieff talks about the myths of the chemical imbalance and the chemical cure for psychiatric disorders (episode 04); psychiatrist Mark Horowitz explains how patients can be safely withdrawn from their psychiatric drugs (episode 07); and lawyer Jim Gottstein talks about being abused by psychiatry, lies in court, and winning lawsuits to prevent forced drugging (episode 09).
There will be many more episodes about psychiatry in the future. You can subscribe to our newsletter, but the website has just been restructured, and this functionality has not come up again yet.
